Local professionals are being invited to put their hand up to showcase their skills at a major new business conference in Warrnambool later this year.
BizFest – the brainchild of Warrnambool marketing and communications agency o2 Media – will be staged as part of the Victorian Government’s Small Business Festival in August this year.
o2 Media Director Karen Foster said professional people were now invited to express their interest in delivering skills workshops as part of the day-long program.
Ms Foster said BizFest, on Wednesday 12 August, would bring the best of business knowledge to the south-west.
“As people who choose to live, work and invest in regional Victoria, we are often frustrated by the lack of high-quality professional development available to us here in our region,” Mrs Foster said.
“We wondered why we couldn’t attend top-notch opportunities right on our own doorstep, so we decided to bring the opportunities here instead.”
BizFest will include two high-profile keynote speakers as well as the break-out skills workshops covering a range of topics of importance to business owners and operators.
Ms Foster said that, depending on the local talents available, these were likely to cover topics as diverse as digital marketing, business planning, customer service and visual merchandising, to personal branding and styling, knowing your life’s calling, sales for non-sales people and “going green”.
Ms Foster said BizFest was now calling for Expressions of Interest from local talent interested in delivering the skills workshops.
“The aim of BizFest is to inspire and motivate regional business owners and operators so we’d love to see a wide range of workshop presenters who have the knowledge and experience to do just that,” she said.
“BizFest aims to promote the breadth and depth of business expertise, skills and talent in our region and the skills workshops are the perfect way to do this – with people from our own region imparting their knowledge and expertise.”
Ms Foster said BizFest would provide great networking opportunities for local businesses with several social events to be included in the program, and o2 Media was also looking for event partners.
